How to decide what to blog about

  1. Why do you want to start a blog?
  2. What problem do you want to solve?
  3. Who do you want to help?

Use these questions to navigate what kind of blog you want to start. To make money with a blog… the truth is you need to find people who are looking for a solution to a problem…..and you need to be the answer.

There are over 40,000 searches every second on google. People are constantly coming to the internet when they are trying to solve a problem. Just “google it” becomes the answer to my kids questions 🙂

Any number of imaginable problems are looking to be solved by the first blog, you tube video, or pinterest heading they come across. If readers are looking to solve a problem and your blog is nothing but ramblings on random topics, your blog will not help to solve their immediate problem and they may move on 🙁

**However, if you are entertaining enough they may stick around 🙂

Solve a Problem = Make Money$

The bigger the problem–>The more valuable the solution–>The more Money$

Now another question you may be asking is “How do I stand out in the internet world where there are 152 million blogs?”

Good freaking question!

I asked that question myself which is why it took me 9 years to create a blog that I stuck with. I kept second guessing myself and not really getting anywhere.

However, after studying hundreds of the most popular and successful blogs I have found one thing in common…It is not as hard as it sounds. You will just need to narrow your focus….enter the word niche.

Definition of niche: denoting or relating to products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population.

For instance, if you want to stay up-to-date on fashion trends, you’ll follow fashion blog such as or You will trust that they will continually solve your fashion woes.  If you want to alleviate boredom, you might hit up for the latest in celebrity gossip. These 3 blogs are only a few of the examples of blogs that make $millions$  every year solving problems and having fun doing it!

How exactly do you “find your niche?” Check out these tips below.

Question #1-Do I like learning about this niche?

Blog about something that you enjoy researching. Something that you already do for free. Perhaps you are constantly looking and researching for the best and safest baby products. You may even get so excited to tell your friends about it. You may have become the go to person in your circle of friends for this niche. You are an expert already and you didn’t even know it!

You will also want to find a niche that has plenty of room for subtopics. So write a list of ideas of topics and subtopics that you would ideally include in a particular idea. If your list becomes too long you can always narrow it down by focusing in on a specific population. For example you could just focus in on first time mothers, between the ages of 30-35, who live in the suburbs, and drive mini-vans.

The main point of Question #1 is Find something you enjoy writing about. If you don’t enjoy writing about your topic then each time you think about working on your blog it may feel like a drag.

Question #2- Are there others searching for this topic?
